THE GOATS

Honeysuckle Ranch at Bee Tree is home to a beloved herd of spoiled Nubian and Alpine dairy goats. Each girl was either born here or raised on the farm from birth which means that Jenna (and sometimes Jeremy) spend countless hours bottle feeding baby goats every year. During the spring, it’s not unusual to find one of us in a rocking chair on the porch with a goat in our lap feeding them milk out of an old beer bottle. Our girls live primarily off of the browse available on the farm and spend their days roaming many acres of wooded pasture, sunning themselves in the grass, or generally causing trouble (they are goats, after all). The goats are protected by our fiercely faithful pack of livestock guardian dogs; Great Pyrenees mixes who were raised with the goats. (They actually believe they ARE goats, but we don’t hold that against them.)

Although the ranch is home to many animals including cows, horses, chickens and pigs it is the goats that are the center and heart of everything we do. Honeysuckle Ranch is an extension of Bee Tree Farm and Dairy, the original farm and homestead of Jenna and Jeremy who created a commercial goat dairy in 2016, crafting farmstead cheeses from the milk of their own goats. These cheeses were sold across Texas for many years and served as a reflection of the beautiful milk from the beautiful goats who lived and roamed freely across the entire property. While Jenna decided to finally retire the cheese operation in order to spend time with her family (and sleep), the goats remain the heartbeat and soul of the property. If not for their deep love of these inquisitive, affectionate, prolific animals, Bee Tree Farm and, subsequently, Honeysuckle Ranch would not exist! The goats remain an active part of all events on the ranch and can be included in any barn or Airbnb rental to join you as companions (or guides) on hikes or just to serve as a peaceful backdrop you and your guests are welcome to interact with (pet, scratch, snuggle, and smooch) during your event. Have any questions about goats and how they can be incorporated into your event for a unique and unforgettable experience on the ranch? Just ask! We are so proud of our herd of dairy goats and love sharing them with our guests.
